Future homeowners learned about the process of buying an affordable home at PNC Bank’s “Path to homeownership” workshop in partnership with Spanish Coalition for Housing (SCH)

On June 8th PNC Bank and Spanish Coalition for Housing hosted “Path to Homeownership” workshop at the National Museum of Mexican Art, located in the Pilsen community.

More than 80 prospective homebuyers from across Chicago were in attendance and had the opportunity to learn from industry experts about the basics of the mortgage process, home inspections, credit counseling, home insurance, the need for a real estate agent, property taxes, housing counselors and other relevant topics.

Other local experts who participated in the sessions included Tennille Winfrey, realtor for Charles Rutenberg Realty; Alfranio Silva, owner of Perfect Home Inspection and Martha Dominguez, representative for Country Financial.

After a daylong event, participants received credit towards completing their HUD first-time homebuyer certificate (a requirement to become eligible for incentives and programs for qualified first-time buyers) and scheduled a one-on-one counseling session with our housing counseling team. Thanks to all participants for support of affordable homeownership opportunities in the community.
